Leader is the one who leads !
We try to position ourselves to be a leader very often in life, however what’s really important is to be a real one. A real leader possesses a some traits which differentiates him from the lot and thus positioning one at an admirable stance.
They are essentially in most of the scenarios the torch bearers and hold a pivotal position in terms of :
1- A Leader: Leading the team towards productive goals
2- A Leader: Inspiring the team to be creative the way the leader is
3- A Leader: Motivating the team to constantly perform
4- A Leader: Create an aspirational stance of self for the team to look up to, &
5- A Leader: Puts across a path which is cheerfully accepted by others to follow suit.
Now all these aspects are pretty much required in a corporate where everyone works with an intent to learn, perform and grow.
When in a project which is operating under tight timelines if the leader takes the stand to shell out some extra hours in terms of working for achieving the goals under the desired timeline, the team might not be interested to do so. But if he puts forth the scenario in a way which projects his inputs to have made him more valuable and knowledgeable in terms of the skills which are applicable in that project, and understanding the fact that how those skills are crucial in other forthcoming projects as well, the team gets influenced and inspired.
Now this was a scenario of ‘inspiring’ and ‘bridging’ styles of influencing.
Now at the same time if he would have put forth the same thing in a more rational way by actually telling them which of the skills and how would those fit in the forthcoming projects, would depict a more logical and ‘rational’ stance, should the case be better influenceable by that.
Similarly the ‘assertive’ and ‘negotiative’ stance also play in the places they seem to have a better effect towards putting the team in line with the organizational objectives.
Thus helping the team to deliver productively within the given timeline.
Hence proving the fact that influencing is so crucial towards a well coordinated and productive team.
